Let's start with GSM. But what is it?
In fact, it is a unit of measurement that indicates the weight and potentially the thickness of a fabric. GSM means ''Gramme per Square Metter''. In French, Gramme per square meter. The higher the number, the heavier and therefore potentially thicker the fabric! It is a very useful unit when you know how to use it! Why do I say that you have to know how to use it to use it? In fact, since it is a unit that takes into account the weight, it takes into consideration another variable that we must keep in mind... The density of the fiber! Yes yes! This is where it becomes complex. Let's take the example of a Bamboo fiber and a Cotton fiber. If both fibers have a GMS of 250, will they have the same thickness? No! Because the Bamboo fiber has a greater density than that of Cotton, it is therefore heavier than Cotton. We should therefore not compare two fabrics that do not have the same composition!
